A tropical depression to our southeast in the Gulf of Mexico was expected to hug the coast line while heading in our general direction.  The forecast for the week changed as the chance of rain declined when TS Bertha stayed south of this area in the Gulf.  On Tuesday, there was no breeze at all as the sun blanketed the area with a feels-like temperature of 111°F. Algae that had been growing over bare soil during the rainy weather last week has dried up and cracked and now is exposing dry soil.  By Wednesday afternoon, the winds picked up, north at 13 with gusts in the mid-twenties, but no rain, just passing dark clouds from TS Bertha which sits on the Louisiana coast just below New Orleans.  With the tropical storm staying to our south, lots of sunshine prevailed Friday into a very hot and dry weekend.
