This years monsoon season is not delivering what everyone else is getting at this location. In the last week we have received 0.35 at the beginning of the week and 0.15 last night. The native grasses are still turning brown and drying up, while the mesquite is still green and weeds are trying to grow in protected areas. The Drought monitor is showing improvement on the west side of the Pecos, but I am not seeing it at this time. There is still a moderate flow of cattle at the local sale barns. Then the clouds do turn the possibility of lighting cause fire is still on everyone's mind. The heat has been in the upper 90's last week, which was a break, but this week's forecast is showing back to and above the 100's for the next week.
