Boon of rain this week brought much needed moisture to thirsty ground. My cucumbers were confused and developed blossom rot. They haven’t yielded anything over the last month so they’re being removed to make way for volunteer cosmos that sprouted after our heavy rain. This year’s sunflowers are easily over 8 feet tall. Several were so top heavy I’ve started pruning them. The hummingbirds seemed to have enjoyed the showers. The rain also brought a few days of cooler weather that allowed for brief bits of outdoor time before temperatures started to rise again.
