The fields are mostly bare of flowers and plants.  The 0.05 inch of rain received this week dried up within 24 hours. Some plants that grow every year have not yet appeared this year. Local produce is growing well with melons, peaches, apples and lettuce abundant. The soil is very dry and dusty; thunderstorm outflow winds cause blowing dust. The Rio Grande River flow is near zero and has been for several weeks. Our water supply is adequate but with mandatory watering restrictions in place. No critical fire weather is expected for the next two weeks due to the moist monsoon flow from the east and southeast.  The dewpoint is now frequently in the 50's.
