Pretty normal mid-July around here. Occasional rains but mostly hot muggy weather. The corn and beans around here look good as do the pastures, alfalfa (2nd cutting finally completed), trees and garden. Still mowing weekly. North and south of us they are aerial spraying something. Japanese beetles have increased in number but not as heavy as in past years. They are on my grape vine and I dispatch them once a day. The low end of the sheep pasture is dry as is most of the overflow creek. The little pond is wet mud. Last night a raccoon tore around the barn, knocking down feed barrels, water buckets and cat bowls. It seemed to be after water. I didn't need to wear barn boots during chores today because we no longer have heavy dew in the morning. Something is chewing the sunflower heads off of my plants. It carries it off because I am not finding it around the plants.
