Description:
Above normal temperatures and below normal rain, with hot and dry weather. 
(07 JUL to 13 JUL) 

Precipitation for the period was 0.17”. -0.74” for the period. 
Cal yr 21.82, +0.18” above annual seasonal normal.

Evaporation: 1.34”    
Water Balance for July: -1.69” deficit
Water Balance from 4/12 to date: +0.16” surplus 
 
Soil Moisture 4” Depth: 190.7 cb – Extreme Dry. Change of -65.4 cb
Soil Moisture 8” Depth: 200.0 cb – Extreme Dry. Change of -19.3 cb

Temperatures averaged 76.4 degrees, +2.0 above normal for the period.  

Soil temperatures, for the period, at 2” have averaged 71.3 degrees, 4” average is 72.0 degrees, 8” average is 73.1 degrees and 20” average is 66.8 degrees. -1.9 overall decrease, on average, from the previous period. 

Warm and mostly dry week. The soil moisture took another big hit and at 4” and  8” now extremely dry, and it now shows in stressed lawns and plants.

Lawns are brown without supplemental irrigation and no mowing. Day lilies are in bloom and summer hibiscus continue to grow and planter cherry tomatoes are ripening with some being harvested. 

Bird activity now is mainly sparrows, some doves, occasional robins. Squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits are out and feeding on grass and seed overspill from bird feeder.
