With a total of 1.66" observed precipitation, conditions at this station appear to be near normal. Soil holds its shape when squeezed in the hand, and supplemental watering has not been necessary. Garden plants are in full swing, with color from bee balm, lilies, milkweed, and sunflowers. The bee population is still noticeably small, with bumbles being the most common. Mosquitoes and horseflies are doing fine, though. The regular, small amounts of rain have been helpful despite other factors affecting the growing season. Wildlife is calm and visible at dawn and dusk. Deer, raccoons, and skunks are all frequent sights in this area. We are all benefiting from this season's weather.
