The fields are mostly bare of flowers and plants and the rose flowers died this week; the weather is just too hot. The June average temperature was 2.4 degrees above normal. Some plants that grow every year have not yet appeared this year. Some trees are stressed with shriveled leaves. The soil is very dry and dusty; thunderstorm outflow winds from the west cause blowing dust. The Rio Grande River flow is near zero and has been for several weeks. Our water supply is adequate but with mandatory watering restrictions in place.
