Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NC-PT-116
Station Name: Greenville 2.8 S
Report Date: 7/11/2026
Submitted: 7/11/2026 12:19 PM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
June was another exceptionally dry month going 20 days without any significant rainfall. Monthly total was 1.72", 2.98" below or 37% of NOAA Normal.
Through 10 days, July rainfall is 0.97", 1.06" below or 48% of NOAA Normal. Note that 0.51" of this was received in one day, July 10.
Small animals appear to be searching for water sources and have noticed an increase in animals on cameras overnight coming to sources we have placed out.
Soil surface is still very dry with very little sub-surface moisture. Lawn grasses and border plants are extremely stressed, even with added irrigation. Anecdotally, crops in the coastal plain between Pitt and Columbus counties appear extremely stressed with most field crops appearing to not produce. The only exception is the few fields observed which are irrigated.
Net, would place us between Moderately & Severely dry because some soil moisture is present at the surface and water restrictions are not yet widespread.
