With 1.95” of rain this week conditions have improved from moderately to mildly dry. The Pascoag Reservoir is up to 8’8” from 8’5” which is about normal for July. With the recent rain, the lawn has perked up and grass is growing again. Our hostas are in full bloom and the hydrangeas are a beautiful blue - they like the shady side of the house. Also, yellow water lilies are in bloom in the cove at the other end of the lake. We had a late start this year to our garden but with regular watering our tomatoes and peppers are now thriving. Hummingbirds, robins, swallows and finches have been regular visitors in the yard and we saw a bald eagle flying with an eaglet at the other end of the lake. Our blueberry bush is producing a lot of berries this year, mostly for the birds, but we get some too. The lake has been busy with boat traffic, but it seems like fishing is not as common as years past. Fire danger at George Washington state campground is posted as Low.
