The 0.45 inches of rain in late June did not have any effect on improving plant growth. The fields are mostly bare of flowers and plants. Some plants that grow every year have not yet appeared this year. Some trees are stressed with shriveled leaves. It used to be that many moths would invade the area by now, but there are none this year. The Rio Grande River flow is near zero and the June rain did not increase the flow. Our water supply is adequate but with mandatory watering restrictions in place. Air quality has been occasionally unhealthy due to smoke from distant forest fires.
