Soil and vegetation damp.  Vegetation in lawn and forest bright green putting on good growth.  Growth of garden has been slow but is picking up with hot spell that has just begun.  First planting of sweet corn will not be knee high on the 4th, but within 5" of that.  Logging and tourism activity moderate, homebuilding very high.  Local creek is at average level as are inland lakes.  Bunchberry dogwood, ninebark, and blackberry are notable bloomers.  Peonies have just bloomed.  Bracken fern growing thickly in forest.  Fawns are moving with their dams. Barred owls are hooting more in twilight and at night.  Whip-poor-wills notably absent again this year.  Mosquitos and biting flies bad except when afternoons bright and windy. but not as bad as some years.
