Small amounts of rain this week maintain gardens and lawns in a lush state. Forest fire hazard rating is moderate, with no fire restrictions in place. There are increasing numbers of new forest fires further north, however. Locally, the forest feels damp with moist moss and debris underfoot. Ditches are full of water. Lower Black Sturgeon Lake is down another 1” this week, but continues at a high normal level for early summer. Lake was busy on the weekend with recreational boat activity and fishing. Forest hikes are challenging due to mosquitos. Overall it feel like the wetter end of normal conditions for early summer.
