Some rain last week finally to the tune of 0.38" over two reporting periods. Still consider Moderately Dry as the appropriate condition. Grasses, sedges, and forbs are doing well in the yard. Shrubs, especially currents, are looking stressed. Aspen trees are recovering from the late frost we had and look healthy so far, but they have been established for tens of years. Birds continue to frequent the birdbath and hummingbird feeders. Snotel sites are no longer reporting as there is no snowpack left. Precipitation received is 24% of MTD Prism Normal, 69% of YTD Prism Normal, and 65% of WYTD Prism Normal. Stream flows in my area are running at or below half for this date. I am worried about the effect of early low water on the trout fisheries. Just in the last few days we have been covered in smoke from western wildfires. Prepared for evacuation if we get a wildfire in our area and have to leave, but so far there is nothing close by.
