June had been mostly dry until a few days ago when 0.45 inch of rain fell. Now June is up to 0.55 inch and the June NOAA normal is 0.56 inch. The soil is still moist but only a few field flowers are growing. Some plants that grow every year have not yet appeared this year. Some trees are stressed with shriveled leaves. Agriculture is doing well with apricots, plums and blackberries available. However, the cherry crop failed, ruined by a late cold and snowy day. It used to be that many moths would invade the area by now, but there are none this year. The Rio Grande River flow is near zero; this week's rain did not increase the flow. Our water supply is adequate but with mandatory watering restrictions in place.
