Station Number: CAN-BC-100
Station Name: Glade 0.8 NNE
Report Date: 6/27/2026
Submitted: 6/27/2026 9:39 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
For the week ending 27 June 2026: After 2 weeks of no significant rain, we received close to 7 mm in the past 2 days. June will close far below the longterm normal precipitation SWE for the month. Although very hot early in the week, the current weather system has delivered welcomed rain and comfortable temperatures. Unfortunately, cedar waxwings consumed almost all of our hascaps earlier in the month. The gardens are producing early: I clipped the scapes from our hardnecked Russian Garlic about 10 days early and we harvested our first 4 kg of sweet green peas already. And the broccoli is coming on strong. We have begun to dry emerging King Stropharia mushrooms for use in winter soups, braises, and stews. As you can see from the photos, our poppies have exploded in this past week, a lovely way to greet the day. The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) maintained our wildfire danger at Moderate for most of this week, but with the weekend rain, BCWS reduced our wildfire danger to Low today. PHOTOS: Taken earlier today. The first image is captured near my CoCoRaHS CAN-BC-100 gauge set-up, facing 85ºE. The second image faces 375º N, along our East Gardens fence where our poppies have exploded in the last week. The third image faces 280º West along our laneway. The fourth image faces 175º South about 50 metres from the base of our mountain.
