Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IL-BN-19
Station Name: Belvidere 5.0 NNW
Report Date: 6/27/2026
Submitted: 6/27/2026 8:35 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Wet
Description:
A total of 0.93" of precip was not enough to keep the soil in a moderately wet condition as it came in dribs and drabs and never really soaked into the deeper soil. So it seems mildly wet soil conditions are about right for now. Also, with blast furnace days in our NWS forecast, the soil will have a good chance of drying out quite a bit more. Currently, area waterways are coming down and look to be just above their normal levels. Trees look good, are growing fast and so far show no signs of stress. Area lawns look lush, green and are in need of mowing about every 6 days or so. While mowing Thursday I surprised a couple turkeys with about half a dozen poults in tow, that are getting big enough now to fly somewhat and should be pretty safe from predators. Finally, the eastern phoebes that are nesting near my porch ceiling have been very busy. While varnishing my front door they kept chirping at me, letting me know that I was too close to their nest. I hurried up and was rewarded for my efforts with numerous runs in the varnish that I will either have to fix or get used to. Pretty sure that I'm going to wait until they are done nesting.
