I am one of the the only full time crop farmers in this area of the state. Been farming here since 1981. my great grandparents came here in 1902. Been in various stages of drought since 2021. Last 1 inch daily rainfall was 7/23/25. Since then we are 14 inches below normal. Lawn is mostly brown. Field crops look ok yet but growth stage is getting to the point of needing alot of water. Surface waters are extremely low. Potholes mainly dry. Surface water irrigation permits suspended as of 6/27/26. Rains have been close around just not here. This is the driest start in my 45 years of farming.
