No rain last week.  The soil is dry. Weeds are brown and dry. Juniper and Piñon trees are stressed, showing some brown in them. Cold season grass is dormant. Plenty of deer in the area. They seem to prefer our sumac (which we water occasionally) to our grass for grazing.  More Red Flag days than not. A small wildfire (cause not known at this time) broke out about five miles southwest of here (Lawhead Fire). It was quickly controlled. Smoke in the area likely from the Iron fire in Utah.
