Report Date: 6/16/2026

Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
1.50” of rain last week over two events separated by several days. Some gusty wind with one shower but nothing severe with either storm. 1.30” of Evapotranspiration for the week. Temperatures were seasonal - morning lows mid to upper 70s and afternoon highs generally upper 80s and low 90s - many days with 100+ heat index. Between the rain and hot weather getting yard work done has been a challenge - I’m still behind on pulling weeds from garden beds. Ground soil is currently moist but firm - trying to pull weeds from the clay soil has been challenging as it’s very compact from the rain. I’ve had to use my hand shovel to dig most of them out. Needless to say, no supplemental watering needed. Plants are thriving - would probably even appreciate drying out a bit. All wildlife are busy going about their daily routines. DFW area has been busy with extra tourists in town - hosting the first of several FIFA World Cup matches. Not as hot as it could be but I imagine those coming from Europe might be suffering a bit. According to the news reports, many are still taking advantage of exploring the area including trips to Buc-ee’s. lol Shout out to the Japanese fans for staying after the game and cleaning up their litter - very impressive! Story for the week - still on the good side of Near Normal Texas Summer conditions.
