Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NC-WK-424
Station Name: Wake Forest 2.6 ENE
Report Date: 6/16/2026
Submitted: 6/16/2026 8:42 AM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
We are now just into the Extreme drought classification with NWS. The extreme heat (several 100+ days) and no rain has severely impacted ponds, streams and rivers.
Landscape plants requiring daily drip irrigation. Growth rates are down and flowering of crepe myrtles is running behind. Grass (hybrid bermuda) is barely growing and starting to brown out. Mowing periodically as needed.
Watering restrictions in place limiting irrigation to one day per week during overnight hours.
Agricultural planting is behind and all planted crops are now showing stress and browning out. Going to be a bad year for farmers. Golf courses are trying to salvage the greens and letting the rest go.
I hate to ask for it but we need a big tropical system to salvage the summer.
