Yellow pollen all over everything since the small (for us) rain storm late evening. Thunder and lightning with the storm. The rain almost missed us. All is growing well. Grass green. Have to water potted plants. Agriculture: asparagus is growing rapidly into ferns. Chives have puffy purple flowers. Growing nicely. Rhubarb is really thriving. Energy: Using fans and air conditioner. Also opening windows. Fire: I don’t know of any wildfires. We have had good amounts of rain up north. Plants and wildlife: Bought 5 pots of flowering plants and got them planted. Supposed to help bees and hummingbirds. Will have to get the hummingbird feeders up. Grosbeak birds at feeder. Also, Sparrows and Blue Jays. Mockingbirds stopped singing overnight. Other birds sang all night. We have Robins and Starlings on the yard. No water restrictions despite rain amounts less than normal. High temperatures above normal have been suffered through. Society and public health: Have heard of a new strain of COVID. Almost time to get vaccinated. Tourism: Over the Memorial Day weekend, it rained the entire time. No water restrictions. Merrimack River has good water flow.
