Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NY-SL-21
Station Name: Heuvelton 0.3 WNW
Report Date: 5/31/2026
Submitted: 5/31/2026 8:39 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Wet
Description:
With over 0.5" of precipitation in the past week, we are still experiencing Mildly Wet conditions. The basement is distinctly humid. We have been having moderate dews that leave open surfaces wet (something I normally expect in late summer/fall). Cooler temperatures appear to be lessening any burden to use up water resources but concomitant to those cooler temperatures, most growth is slower than normal.

Now the green-up has nearly finished, more branch and tree death is visible--possibly linked to last year's drought. Nothing much to be done about that right now other than keep observing.

Two areas of observed flourishing in the past week: mosquitos and ants.

Most other wildlife appears normal and because of the aforementioned insects, I expect the about-quarter-sized toads in the backyard to grow well this year.

Finally I got some seeds in the ground in the vegetable garden. The cooler temperatures (including frost and snow in the past 7 day forecasts) have been frustrating because the soil is worked, settled, and ready. This is the latest garden start I've known in the past 20 years.

Allergies have been low.
