Week of (5/24/26-5/30/26) observed more precipitation compared to last week. The precipitation observed during this week was 1.86 inches of precipitation. The amount of precipitation measured was more than the last update of 0.54 inches of precipitation for the previous week of (5/17/26-5/23/26). There was 4.15 inches of precipitation so far that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 for the month of May compared to the normal climatology precipitation at KROC airport for the month is 2.76 inches of precipitation. The week of 5/24/2026-5/30/2026 had measured 0 inches of snowfall. There was trace of snowfall that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 so far for the month of May compared to the normal climatology snowfall at KROC airport for the month is 0.1 inches. Conditions have remained the same since the last update from last week with the area seeing more measurable precipitation in the form of liquid over this past week and the area is still remaining drought free. The area is currently considered mildly wet and conditions had have remained the same despite the ground still being very wet since the last update due to the area receiving an abundance of precipitation in the form of rain since there has been a lot of measurable rainfall last month in April and also in the month of March and this had caused the area to still be very moist and the ground still very muddy and squishy due to the abundance of moisture the area had received in the past. The sump pump has been pumping more periodically during the entire week due to the ground still moist from more soaking rain the area experienced this week and over the past couple of months. Outdoor activities have been poor with cool and wet weather to begin the week despite a lot of wet and cool weather hindering walking on trails in the beginning of the week and local creeks and streams water levels are still holding at low levels along with some mild air in the environment in the middle of the week (Tuesday-Wednesday) with temperatures slightly warmer than average for a couple of days of the week with several days with slightly to below average temperatures (Thursday-Saturday), but no snow had taken place this week and 0 inches of snow depth currently on the ground. The area experienced a mix bag of above and below average temperatures most of the week with temperatures cooling below average by the end of the week into the early weekend (Thursday- Saturday). Furnace has been working below average for most this week and only turn on once one morning and given mainly a break and the air conditioner hasn’t been needed this week to cool the house due to a mix bag of the slightly warmer and slightly cooler than average temperatures prevailing over the area most of the week due to temperatures warming above average (as much as 9 degrees Fahrenheit above average and as much as 10 degrees below average for the remainder of the week after Thursday. The ground still very muddy and squishy with all the rain that had fallen this week and several weeks prior and the drainage area in the backyard still has a little of standing water and the area could use another break from the rain and the area could use another period of dry weather for the ground to dry up and become less muddy. Signs of spring still the same as last week with Tulip leaves and daffodils still are present with Tulips that are starting to show signs of die off for the season this week along with the grass is still remaining green and vibrant with all the moisture that had fallen over the past couple of weeks along with leaves on the trees approaching full foliage. The front yard needed to be hand mowed once this week along with vegetation such as Dogwoods and trees in the backyard are showing signs of full leaf growth, but mowing the backyard was still a challenge due to the ground being very wet and muddy and Boxwoods needed trimming to remove dead vegetation. So far, the total precipitation at this station for the month of May is currently above average and snowfall accumulation is currently below average.
