For the week 5/24 - 5/30 2026 ----- EARLY MORNING TEMPERATURES at Data collection: Aurora: 47, 51, 71, 52, 46, 47, 54 & Kingsford : 47, 48, 69, 52, 44, 45, 55 ----- WATER CONTENT IN THE GAUGE: .28 Aurora & .25 Kingsford ----- SNOWFALL- Aurora and Kingsford : nothing no snow -----MENOMINEE RIVER: Water levels all week at the normal summer water flow height and really got low by the end of this week ----- US Drought Monitor has changed and more of WI is seeing mild drought conditions but the U.P. and NE WI is still in normal range-----Natural Wildfire risk is medium as we had little rain this week and I noticed yesterday and this morning that trees were shedding a little bit of leaves due to the lack of rain and dryness ----- WILDLIFE: Quiet here but finally saw a couple of rabbits and a squirrel across the street. Birds are in abundance and the deer are back on the Michigan side and saw for the 1st time in my life a Hooded Merganser on the river with a rust colored head and 10 chicks it's head looked like it was flat ironed and narrow, wasn't very large but sure had a lot of chicks ------PLANTS: perennials continue flourish and have bloomed flowers on my Bearded Iris and other plants are on growing buds such as on my Day Lily plants. The Lily Of The Valley plants are blooming. Ferns growing in beautifully. . . Leaves this week on bushes and trees falling a bit due to the lack of rain and is a bit high on the temperatures for this time of year but as we know the earth climate cycles-----TOURISM: Haven't seen much in the way of this via traffic this week but boats are being towed around and more launched into the river this week ----- BUSINESS & INDUSTRY: logging trucks in abundance this week and construction vehicles and WE Energies out replacing line poles, and in the U.P. Road work being done in very much needed streets that had more pot holes than driving surface. ----That's all for this week have a nice weekend!
