Conditions here are still severely dry. Most of NC is classed as moderate to severely in drought. We have received over 2 inches of rain in May however this is only about one half of the "normal yearly average." Outdoor burning restrictions have been lifted for the present. All plants, lawns and golf fairways are green and appear healthy but more rain is needed. Small streams have dried up and Lake Jordon water levels have declined. The Haw River is flowing at low levels. People are out and last week's weather was cooler. Some rain is predicted for next week followed by higher temperatures and dry conditions as June starts.
