Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: MA-HD-30
Station Name: Hampden 2.0 NW
Report Date: 5/29/2026
Submitted: 5/29/2026 8:26 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
Mildly to moderately dry. Putting plants, flowers, in the ground and the soil is dry. Our local brook is down In level I believe in this early summer time. Trees and larger bushes seem ok as we did have some snow this past winter, but shallow root plants may have problems. There have been a few local woods fires but nothing major yet. As this is a town wo a municipal water supply, we rely on wells and so far have not hear of any rumors of people with well problems. A note that a few years ago between drought and bugs, a lot of trees were killed. The town took care of dangerous ones roadside but those in yards and the woods were of course left. Well long story short this past winter two dying trees in the woods directly in back of me fell.
As for wildlife it’s been a busy spring with lots of fox and coyote sightings and we had a springtime resident bear. A fairly large male from what I and the neighbors saw. He appeared in mid March and only the last week 10 days has he disappeared.
As for farming there is one local, just over the town line, who is well on their way into planting. He has access to a city water line so generally does ok with irrigation.
