Station Number: NC-DH-48
Station Name: Durham 4.5 N
Report Date: 5/25/2026
Submitted: 5/25/2026 7:16 PM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
With the building of a "super" El Nino, we are starting to see a possible end of this drought. The GFS is displaying precipitation in our area for the next 6 days with some significant precipitation. During this past week, we have received 0.59 inches of precipitation. While welcomed, there are still a few cracks in the soil. Many of the smaller ones are gone. The amount receive is still under the normal rate for reaching our normal average of 3.99 inches for this month.

The thin wasted looking grass is starting to revive. Cooler temperatures are helping. Some bushes are reviving.

We have seen a return of a pair of hummingbirds after a hiatus of about a week three weeks ago.
