October through February were extremely dry as normal for this area of West Texas. A small amount of precipitation was recorded in March and a greater amount than normal was recorded in April. May has seen some precipitation recorded each week but not large amounts. The spring winds were not nearly as strong and continuous as would normally have been expected. This has led to Moderately Dry conditions observed at our location. The drought conditions continue affecting wildlife, livestock and fire conditions. Large quantities of dried grasses and other forage are present. A Countywide Burn Ban has been in effect for over three years. This region has been fortunate to not have experienced any significant range fires during that time.
