Signs were trending toward "mildly dry" by the end of last weekend (some dust, stressed plants flowering early, empty rain catchment system), but a half inch of rain Monday/Tuesday perked everything back up. Salad greens are producing lushly. Flowers on the blackberries and spiderwort (Tradescantia canadensis). Something is eating the leaves on both my viburnum varieties to lace. I would suspect tent caterpillars, which are abundant around my workplace, but I see no evidence of tents on the viburnum. Seems too early for Japanese beetles and I have seen none. High winds Monday afternoon brought down a few trees in the neighborhood and knocked out power for about six hours.
