We have received 2.54 in. of rain this week, so soil moisture is good. Lots of lush greenery especially as Spring flowers fade. My red buckeye has been blooming the last few weeks but is just about done now. Grey dogwood is blooming, and iris and peony are just finishing up. Stella de oro daylilies are blooming now and wild daylilies have buds, but horticultural varieties don't have buds yet. Spiderwort is also blooming. Still no sign of orioles or rose-breasted grosbeaks this week, so now catbirds, starlings, house sparrows, downy woodpeckers, and red-bellied woodpeckers are feasting on suet. Lots of ruby-throated hummingbirds are their feeders too. I have been able to have the windows open for the last few days and it was actually cold enough to wear light sweaters a few days this week. The air-conditioner had a break after the weekend. I saw deer one morning next to my wildflower patch.
