The exceptional precipitation we received recently has had an immediate affect to our local water table. Last year was the first time the water table was so low we had nothing whatsoever in our pit to pump. I was pleasantly surprised to find water half way up our pump for the first time since August of 2024. Lilacs and other perennial plants leafed out too soon due to record heat in March. Our recent low 20F days killed off all the lilac leaves and the perennial plants aren't doing much better either. Those froze then got crushed under the weight of 7"+ of heavy wet 'cement' snow. Most shrubs and trees here began leafing out a month ahead of what's typical. Other than a striped skunk there have been no deer or moose in our yard since last Autumn. That has never happened before.
