The soil is moderately dry when digging holes in the ground for new plants. Surrounding communities have enacted water restrictions though Cashiers where I live has not done so. New plantings have required watering twice over the past 14 days (no rain has fallen since 5/7-5/8). Streams locally are very low and the elevated water temperature in our trout pond has risen enough to prevent fishing for trout.
