Less than 1.25" of rain so far this month, but every drop has been a blessing - we haven't wasted any of it. Our drought continues, with windy conditions and warm temperatures to help it along. The ground remains extremely hard and dry despite the moisture. Pastures and yards are green with widespread areas of brown dessicated foliage near the ground and alarmingly large bare spaces between individual plants. More ponds show scum and mud rings at or near the surface. Our wet-weather branches still haven't run since early last Spring. The outlook for hay and fescue seed crops continues to dim as the days go by.
