The ground is hard as a rock and greatly cracked. We have not had a significant rainfall event in the past 10 days. The total rainfall for the past two and a half months is less than any of the past three month's average rainfall for any of those months. Those readings are 1.59, 0.87, and 1.18 (so far). A soil moisture meter is reading 15%. We are very dry.
The Forsythia Bush's leaves are starting to droop. The bush was watered about a week ago. The grasses are thin and brown. The hot air and slightly lower than normal dew point temperatures are creating more evaporation than usual.
The birds are making use of our bird baths. We had no pictures of a Hummingbird visiting our one feeder, that has a camera, for over a week. One has visited our feeder for the past two days. Not sure if the earlier visitors were just passing through or the camera failed to trigger.
