Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NC-DH-6
Station Name: Durham 1.2 NW
Report Date: 5/17/2026
Submitted: 5/17/2026 7:38 AM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
A whole .05” this week. The cooler temperatures this week helped but now we’re really ramping up. Humidity continues to be low. Plant stresses increasing. Many plants are not recovering overnight, but are still droopy in the morning. Streams are very low. To germinate seed in the dry soil now would be almost impossible without irrigation. Very rough time for farmers trying to plant seed. Hoping for a big change later this week. I’ve never seen conditions like this in May. Insects activities seems to be low. Likewise birds seem a bit desultory.
