May 4 - 11, 2026-- no precipitation, daily low temps in the 40's; daily high temps in the 80's. Warmer than long-term average temps from NWS records. Trees and plants with leaves frozen in mid-April are developing new leaves. Flowering plants and shrubs in the gardens and yard are all trying to flower at once rather than normal staggered blooming. No rain for weeks but there is a slight chance of showers at the end of this week. Grasses in the foothills are very tall (feet) from all the rain in April but will dry out soon, increasing the possibilities of wildland fires this spring and summer. Tree pollen counts continues to come in waves, from low counts to exteme counts in a day. Forecasts for this coming week include a possible daytime high of about 96° on Tuesday, May 12---about 25°F higher than the long time average high for this time of year. Cold weather systems are forecast for mid to later in the week, possibly bringing rain or thunderstorms. Discharge in the Boise River remains high. Snow on highest peaks in central Idaho are melting.
