With less than 1.5" of rain over the last 6 weeks, things are very dry here. Otter Tail River flows near here are well below expections; maybe the lowest in memory. Lake level is unrecovered from low levels last fall. Lakeshore owners complain of poor access for boat storage on lifts due to low lake levels.
Grass is growing in patchy patterns and no mowing is necessary, an unusually situation this late in the season. Farmwork is advancing but limited due to ongoing cold soil conditions. Dry grasslands are vulnerable to wildfires. Green up in grasslands is also slow. Leaves are slow to develop due to ongoing cool temps.
