Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NM-CH-37
Station Name: Roswell 28.5 NNE
Report Date: 5/10/2026
Submitted: 5/10/2026 8:51 AM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
A couple of weeks ago, we had some moisture (0.48 in) that came slow enough to soak into the ground rather than run downhill. Some of the native grasses have started to show green sprouts. Without more moisture it will probably not make much at this time. The mesquite has already gone though its flowering stage. While the cattle price remains high the numbers going through the local sale barns have dropped since the rain. While we have quite a bunch of dry grasses in the area the chance of Fire Danger remains high. You know it is a bad day when you wake up to the wind already moving 30 to 40 mph like this morning. Praying for some rain. While the USDA has said there will be drought payments this year if applications are approved, the funds may be late in arriving.
