The soil is dry and dusty with some field plants and flowers growing, much less than spring of last year. Trees are healthy. Ant population has increased to normal and a few autumn grasshoppers have appeared. May precipitation so far is 0.41 inch, almost up to the 0.49 NOAA normal for the whole month. May is normally a dry month. Our water supply is adequate but the Rio Grande River flow has diminished somewhat from last week. No critical fire weather conditions are expected through late next
week.
