Scale Bar: Moderately Dry

April precipitation was 0.32 inches which was below the NOAA normal of 0.59. Fields have been very dry. The 0.34 of rain 36 hours ago has brought some relief from the dryness. Trees are healthy but field plants, grasses, flowers and ants are very few. Critical fire weather conditions are not forecast through the next
seven days due to the recent moisture and more rain expected on Tuesday. Our water supply is adequate. Water flow in the Rio Grande River is steady and has increased a little since last week.
This winter's heating degree total at the airport was 2459 which was 63% of the 3931 normal. This indicates that the winter was very warm with low energy usage. The previous winter heating degree total was 3457.
