There was 0.9 inches of snowfall that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 for the month of April compared to the normal climatology snowfall at KROC airport for the month is 3.0 inches. There was 0.07 inches of precipitation so far that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 for the month of May compared to the normal climatology precipitation at KROC airport for the month is 0.19 inches of precipitation. There was 0 inches of snowfall that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 so far for the month of May compared to the normal climatology snowfall at KROC airport for the month is 0 inches. Conditions have gotten more wet since the last update from last week with the area seeing more measurable precipitation in the form of liquid over this past week and the area is still remaining drought free. The area is currently considered mildly wet and conditions had gotten very wet since the last update due to the area receiving beneficial precipitation in the form of rain and there has been a lot of measurable rainfall last month in April and also in March and this had caused the area to still be very moist and the ground still very muddy and squishy. The sump pump has been pumping more periodically during the entire week due to the ground still moist from more soaking rain the area experienced this week and over the past couple of months. Outdoor activities have been poor with a lot of wet weather hindering walking on trails due to areas still experiencing standing water especially on local trails and local creeks and streams water levels are still flowing at medium water levels along with some cooler air in the environment most of the week with temperatures cooler than average most of the week with a few days with above average temperatures, but no snow had taken place this week and 0 inches of snow depth currently on the ground. The area experienced well below average temperatures most of the week with temperatures falling well below average by the end of the week with patchy frost forming Friday and nights. Furnace has been taking a break for a few days this week and working mainly above average this week to heat the house due to the cooler than average temperatures prevailing over the area most of the week due to temperatures falling well below average (as much as 17 degrees Fahrenheit below average). The ground still very muddy and squishy with all the rain that had fallen several weeks prior and the drainage area in the backyard is still full of standing water and the area could use a break from the rain and the area could use a period of dry weather for the ground to dry up and become less muddy. Some snow pellets mixing with light rain and sprinkles had been observed Saturday afternoon and evening. Signs of spring emerging with Tulip leaves, Crocus and daffodils still growing this week along with the grass is green and vibrant with all the moisture that had fallen over the past couple of weeks. The front yard needed to be hand mowed twice this week along with vegetation such as Dogwoods and trees in the backyard are showing signs of budding and some leaf growth, but mowing the backyard was a challenge due to the ground being very wet and muddy. So far, the total precipitation at this station for the month of May is currently below average and total snowfall is currently average.
