Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NC-CH-61
Station Name: Pittsboro 7.3 NE
Report Date: 5/2/2026
Submitted: 5/02/2026 7:32 AM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
Drought conditions persist in our region. North Caroline has declared a severe drought and local agencies are preparing water restriction plans. We received about 1.17 inches of rain in April, less than one half of the 30 year average. That is the largest rainfall total here in nearly two months. A State-wide ban on all outdoor burning is in effect. Lawns and golf course fairways are yellowing although gardens appear healthy. More rain chances are forecast through next week. Long range forecasts have an El NiƱo forming that might provide more rain. Lake Jordon water levels have declined a few feet attributed to drought and down stream dam releases.
