Drought relief has come in the month of April. Compared to the monthly average for April East Central KS, we are 3.67" above normal. 7.46" fell as of 4/26, and boy did we need it. Ground water is most likely at or above normal. Ponds are full that were in some cases completely dried up over the winter. Early songbird and shorebird migrations are well underway. Summer Tanagers, Indigo Bunting, Ruby-Crowned Kinglets, Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers, Phoebe, Great Crested Flycatchers all migrated into Kansas in April. Winter crops look fantastic with all this rain.. Everything is green - thank God!
