Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: MA-BE-36
Station Name: Cheshire 2.6 N
Report Date: 4/26/2026
Submitted: 4/26/2026 8:09 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
No significant precipitation for the last six days and things are starting to get dry. Leaves on the forest floor have gotten crisp and flow in seasonal streams has declined. The temperature dropped to 21 on Tuesday morning, freezing my plum blossoms and nipping new leaves on rhubarb and sugar maple. Forest tree leaf out has slowed with the cooler weather giving the spring ephemerals more time in the sun. Forsythia is still going strong but the daffodils are starting to fade. The first bluets and dandelions are flowering. I saw a pair of yearling bear cubs in the power line right-of-way and a tom turkey has been ardently gobbling for the past couple mornings. Tree swallows and phoebes are building nests. Garden soil moisture is still good and my peas are sprouting. Black flies are out in force. Greylock trails are dry except for the usual damp spots.
