Measurable rain on only one day of 0.50" brings the monthly total to 2.95". A little below the average at this point of 3.34". Water year and year to date are at either side of 80%. A week ago yesterday I picked fiddleheads, a week or more earlier than normal. Then we had a few mornings in the low 20's and I went back out to see if a story I was told was true. It was, the cold killed many of the fiddleheads that were part way up. The ones up and fully unfurled were fine and the ones still in the ground, but the cold killed many of them partway up. I have not see this before, so the early/mid April 80's temp caused nature problems. Peaches near my house are in bloom. Hope they make it. Seeing less birds without feeding but they come to play in the bird bath. What I have planted in the garden are doing ok.
