For week of 19-25 Apr: (2.0+ 16.0+ 0+ 0+ T+ T+ 1.0)= 19.0+ T mm, Near Normal. High's: +6C to +14C (avg +9C); Low's: +2C to -4C; Wind: Calm to V, gusts to 34km/hr; Frost: 1 heavy frost. It was a cool/chilly week with an avg high of +9C. Two sunny days with remainder cloudy or overcast. One morning had a heavy frost giving crispy, white tinged grass. Precip has slowed. Grass is greening, inviting the younger deer to vigorously graze. Back yard is still quite soft to walk on. Birds getting lots of worms. Songbirds twittering in early morning. Still too cool to do any gardening, but lawn-care businesses are already out. New gravel road shoulders on Peggy's Cove Rd already showing signs of erosion on water side. They might need wire caging. Creek and stream levels all at steady flow, some at higher than normal levels. Looks like Hammonds Plains Marsh could make a remarkable rebound after last year's drought. Here's hoping. People are itching to get away for weekends--canoes, RV's, dirt bikes, kayaks--they're all loaded up and heading out.
