I am right on the edge of calling this moderately dry.  It is very early in the season for the soils here to be powdery dry at such a depth while planting.  This area has missed most of the rain and ponds and creeks have rapidly fallen already from the heavy rains a month ago.  Crops are slow to germinate and farmers are creating huge dust clouds as they plant.  Too many days of dry and windy conditions!
