Description:
Temperatures were above average to slightly below average at the end of the week. The high fire danger warning and red flag warning returned as the ground and vegetation are drying out and the relative humidity is falling. Conditions were drier this week, as I received only 0.01 inch of rain this week. The soil varies from damp to dry at the surface and 3 inches down. The trees and grass have remained green from previous rainfall. Conditions are near normal. April rainfall is up to 3.74 inches, 1.71 inches above normal (185 percent of normal). Precipitation here for the year is now 6.14 inches, which is 0.47 inch above normal (108 percent of normal). Precipitation for the water year is 1.03 inch below normal (90 percent of normal). Plants and wildlife. Bird visits to the heated bird bath remained steady this week due to the remaining water in the area. Approximately 15 species of birds (about 80 to 90 birds visit each day). Water Supply Water level in Standing Bear Lake (approximately 0.2 mile to the east of here) is near normal. Area creeks and ponds are also near normal. Very high to extreme fire danger is possible for parts of the area tomorrow and Wednesday.
