Last 6 weeks 1.85" rain most falling in short, heavy bursts. Planting cool-weather crops that needs irrigating. Soil in pasture is dry and cracked. Grass becoming sparse and not greening as it normally would in spring. Finding soil dry to a depth of at least 15"+ while planting trees and shrubs. Seeing fewer insects (ex. earth worms and ground-dwelling beetles) in soil while planting. Difficult to work outside with asthma due to prescribed and wildfires.
